- Description
Original A3 (approximately 30cm X 42cm) Vietnamese art print. These are hand printed onto traditional Vietnamese Dó paper and look fantastic, especially when framed.
Dó paper is a paper made from the bark of the Rhamnoneuron balansae traditionally produced in many villages in Vietnam. It plays an important role in folk art because of its durability.
The production process includes some stages. The bark is soaked in limewater for three months. The black outer bark is husked off and ground by mortar and pestle before being blended with a viscous substance made from a plant belonging to the Verbenaceae family. This mixture is diluted to form a slurry. A bamboo mold is dipped into the vat of slurry and removed. Paper fibers adhere to the mold in a thin sheet that is then pressed, dried, rolled, and dried again. The final product must be soft, light, and durable. The paper is then hand printed upon.
Every single one of these is slightly different due to the handmade nature and are roughly cut along the edges.
The print will be sent rolled in a cardboard tube or can be sent flat in a board backed envelope if the buyer prefers.
Hopefully, you can find any other info that you require via the photos . If you have any further questions then please email me and i will do my best to answer.
